III. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: This self-pressurized aerosol product is an emulsion of cleaning and polishing agents, and contains aliphatic petroleum distillates. The propellant system is isobutane and propane. The primary hazard of this product is flammability. The petroleum distillate in the product may be harmful or fatal if swallowed, if aspirated into the lungs.

HMIS HAZARD CLASSIFICATION:
HEALTH: 1 | FLAMMABILITY: 3 | REACTIVITY: 0

OSHA HEALTH HAZARD CLASSIFICATION: Irritant
OSHA PHYSICAL HAZARD CLASSIFICATION: Flammable

ROUTES OF ENTRY: skin, eyes, inhalation, ingestion

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

EYES: May cause eye irritation, redness, tearing, blurry vision.
SKIN: May cause skin irritation, defatting, dermatitis.
INGESTION: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; vomiting may cause aspiration of the petroleum distillates into the lungs, which may be harmful or fatal.
INHALATION: May be irritating to mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract; CNS effects are expected if vapors are concentrated and deliberately inhaled.

ACUTE HEALTH HAZARDS: Contains aliphatic petroleum distillates; swallowing product will result in vomiting and aspiration of the solvent into the lungs, which may result in server lung damage or death. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling this product may be harmful or fatal.

CHRONIC HEALTH HAZARDS: sensitization dermatitis; respiratory sensitization; gastrointestinal distress

MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: disorders of the following organs or organ systems that may be aggravated by significant exposure to the petroleum distillates in this product include: skin, respiratory system, liver, kidneys, central nervous system (CNS)

CARCINOGENICITY: This product contains no listed carcinogens according to IARC, ACGIH, NTP, and/or OSHA in concentrations of 0.1 percent or greater.

IV. FIRST AID MEASURES

EYES: Rinse eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes, get medical attention.

SKIN: Wash with cool water and a mild detergent. Get medical attention for rash, irritation, dermatitis.

INHALED: Remove individual to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention.

INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.

NOTES TO PHYSICIANS OR FIRST AID PROVIDERS:
Contains petroleum distillates, which present a significant aspiration and chemical pneumonitis hazard if swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Consider activated charcoal and/or gastric lavage. If necessary, protect the airway by cuffed endotracheal intubation or by placement of the body in a Trendelenburg and left lateral decubitis position.

Inhalation overexposure can produce toxic effects. Monitor for respiratory distress. If cough or difficulty breathing develops, evaluate for upper respiratory tract inflammation, bronchitis, and pneumonitis. Administer supplemental oxygen with assisted ventilation, as required.

V. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR, UPPER: 9%
(% BY VOLUME) LOWER: 0.9%

FLASH POINT: emulsion: 59 ºF (15º C) (TCC) (of the emulsion); propellant: flammable gas, flashpoint <<32 ºF (<<0 ºC)

AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURE: 450 ºF (232 ºC) (emulsion)

NFPA HAZARD CLASSIFICATION
HEALTH: 1 | FLAMMABILITY: 3 | REACTIVITY: 0 | OTHER: n/a

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: small fire: dry chemicals, carbon dioxide, foam, water fog, inert gas (nitrogen); large fire: foam, water fog, water spray; do NOT use a solid stream of water directly on the fire, as the water may cause the fuel to spread to a larger area

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus with full face-piece operated in positive pressure demand mode; cool uninvolved containers to prevent bursting.

UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: product vapors are heavier than air; flash point is sub-ambient; keep away from all ignition sources

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen and silicon, smoke, soot, unburned hydrocarbons.

VI. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES: Surfaces will be slippery where product is spilled. Eliminate all ignition sources. Adsorb spill with inert material such as sand, soil, vermiculite. Scoop up solids. Sweep up. Transfer to containers for disposal.

Small quantities: wipe up with inert adsorbent material (paper towels, newspaper) and transfer to waste container.

VII. HANDLING AND STORAGE

HANDLING: Shake well before use; use only as directed; avoid contact with skin, face, eyes; do not swallow; keep from reach of children; do not smoke during product use.

STORAGE: Store in a cool dry area away from direct sunlight. Do not smoke in storage area.

VIII. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

VENTILATION and ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Use mechanical ventilation or use in a large open area to maintain petroleum distillate vapors below TLV.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: NIOSH/MSHA-approved air-supplied respirator is required where petroleum distillate vapors exceed TLV.

EYE PROTECTION: Goggles are recommended

SKIN PROTECTION: Resistant gloves such as nitride rubber or neoprene are recommended

OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT: Not required for normal use in the plastic-cleaning context. In the manufacturing environment, impervious clothing and boots are recommended to prevent exposure from large spills.

WORK HYGIENIC PRACTICES: Wash hands with soap and water after handling this product. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.
